My open letter to John Cornyn on the balanced budget amendment

While I agree that passing a balanced budget amendment is a big step in the right direction for this country, I don't think the proposed amendment that was voted down today was the right way to do it. We must have limits on spending much like the "Cut, Cap, and Balance" plan or a plan like Reagan or Milton Friedman proposed.
My fear is that without limitations on spending, a balanced budget amendment will only constitutionalist raising taxes to pay for government spending.

I hope that you take these words, and the of Paul Ryan into consideration before supporting another amendment like this.

Thanks,

Welcome to the Art of Politics

Welcome to the Art of Politics, a political blog that takes a look at politics, news, and life.
We try and offer a fresh perspective but mostly want to shine a lite on news stories and have a grown up conversation about that topic.

Check back often as we'll be posting frequently!
